About Us

BuildingFounded in 1998: Optical InterLinks, Inc. (OIL) has developed technology and capabilities to produce custom products for a broad range of optical interconnection and component applications. These products are aimed primarily at multimode chip and board level interconnections, instrument and rack interconnectivity, optical functionality, multi-wavelength and sensor devices.

Custom optical fiber ribbons and distribution buses or shuffles, are made with proprietary manufacturing and connectorization designs. These products can interface with current OEM technology or benefit from OIL's proprietary polymeric waveguides. Our polymeric waveguides are low loss, photoimagable, self-developing guides manufactured on precoated films using photomasks up to a foot square or more if required. This combination enables OIL to design and provide for unique, optimum, and versatile configurations providing full optical system solutions.

Significant advances have been made regarding high-density interconnectivity and optical interfaces to solid-state components, utilizing standard or custom MT style connectors. This interconnectivity includes board edge and board to back plane connectivity. OXL waveguide forming technology is capable of creating internal few micron sized guide structures that provide for low loss and unique waveguide crossovers for dense circuits, multiplexers and sensor product designs.

OIL is actively seeking new investment and customers to provide the resources and product development opportunities to exploit our unique core capabilities for commercially deployable products.

  Optical InterLinks Today

Optical InterLinks (OIL) designs and assembles custom products for a broad range of optical interconnections primarily for data communications and sensing applications. OIL’s polymer waveguide GuideLink™ technology is unique in the world for creating fully connectorized optically coupled waveguide optical links and functional devices with high volume manufacturability. Versatile and diverse technology attributes are enabling for a broad range of configurations and applications often not available elsewhere. Full system custom optical interconnection solutions can be configured capitalizing on both our GuideLink™ technology and DistributionLink™ custom fiber ribbon and wiring harness/shuffle capability.

Some key activities for Optical InterLinks’ today are:

● Optical InterLinks was founded in December 2006 from an asset buy out of Optical CrossLinks assuming all IP, equipment, business accounts and assets, and employed former key personnel, and operating today as a Martra, LLC d/b/a Optical InterLinks

● GuideLink™ waveguide array products currently being produced include substrate attached and self-supporting flexible links, board edge and fiber array connectorization, I/O mirror interfaces, lens array and flip chip coupling configurations, functionality for combiners, star-couplers, splitters and parallel array links.

● Pilot scale production is underway with larger scale up being configured.

● Task planning for the Air Force’s AVE3I (Advanced Vehicle Electromagnetic, Environmental Effects Immunity) for fly by light systems is underway with expected GuideLink™ and DistributionLink™ product configurations to be utilized.

● Advanced second generation polymer formulation modifications are underway to further improve application performance and potential

● Optical InterLinks works closely with customers to design and configure prototype products to meet their unique product requirements, capitalizing on our versatile technologies for novel configurations when needed, and then move toward pilot production and larger scale manufacturing as our customers business grows.
